& it's been my experience that many who are escaping Blue States are actually economic conservatives (often small business owners)....who do NOT want Texas to become like the economic socialist basket case state that they came from.
Florida you need a voter ID

Wrong.

NY -190k in state-state migration last year.

In 1960, NY had 45 electoral votes. Now NY has 29. A loss of 35.6%.

I wonder if those high taxes have anything to do with retirees running?
My fiance has a friend who now lives in Boca Raton, and said we should move there. I looked up job listings for my field and apartment rents in both Dade and Broward Counties. Wages $2/hr less and apartment rents $300+$400/month more. I said no way to that

Blue states are in for a mass exodus
Population of CA (one of the States mentioned) rose by 250K, so its a Breitbart kind of exodus

From West Palm south to about Lox is expensive with rent.

Off the beaten path. Different story.

Miami Boca Lauderdale west Palm etc. Rent is stupid. Can get a house mortgaged for less in other areas. And not bad areas either.

Boca Raton is in West Palm Beach county where they have even less jobs. Rents are very high, as is owning a condo. A place by the beach will charge you $700+ a month for condo fees and another $700 in taxes, so even if you pay cash, you still pay A LOT per month. Good luck with that. Don't forget the hurricane insurance. Millenials like the party scene, climate and the palm trees, so they are moving down even with the high cost of living and low wages. Downtown Ft Lauderdale is full of high end condos occupied by millennials deep in debt.

In the other hand FL population has always been growing, so the newcomers keep the housing prices up. Lot of foreign buyers too.

New York's population remains unchanged due to immigration. The Census Daily Caller cited shows this:

https://www.census.gov/library/visua...omm/idaho.html

The states that actually lost population are:

Wyoming
Mississippi
West Virginia
North Dakota
Alaska
Louisiana
Puerto Rico
Hawaii
Illinois

Nearly all blue states saw .5% to 2% growth from July 2016 to July 2017.

Southeast picked up electoral votes, while NY lost 16.

That means NY lost 80% as many votes as Pa has.

A bloodbath.

It will likely lose several more EC votes, as its change is a far lower % than the US overall.

Southeast will gain more votes.
