I thought this was interesting. Nebraska had the lowest rate once again on drug overdoses.
It seems like in general Nebraska tends to usually year after year have some of the lowest homicide, suicide and usually does have the lowest drug overdose rate in the country.
I have lived there before and I will say that the old-fashioned values and close knit communities and families play a role there. It is also a relatively wealthy state that has high taxes and lots of spending in general.
In general, the plains have the lowest rates of drug overdose deaths in country with one exception and that is Oklahoma.
Texas, South Dakota, North Dakota, Nebraska have by far the lowest rates.
California has a drug overdose rate that is about half the national average also. California has rates that are around half that of Arizona, Nevada, Utah and New Mexico.
The rates in the Eastern United States in general are crazy. Pretty much anything in the eastern United States and not in the deep South has very high rates of overdose deaths.
