That could possibly be so and while I do not know her place, she isn't the one claiming to be a Christian.

That's what the law states. The court has no other way to rule here. Seems every one likes for courts to ignore the law when it suits them.

Will the Supreme Court throw a monkey wrench into all of this? We will see.

If I was a teacher, could I be allowed to not teach you anything because you aren't an Agnostic?

If the baker's religious views opposed interracial marriage, should it be okay for him to refuse to bake a wedding cake for an interracial couple?

The Constitution acknowledges your right to religious freedom. Your statement is no better than the ones you condemn. The problem is when rights conflict.

I believe the case before the court has a decent shot not on religious grounds but indeed on the artistic grounds. Based upon religious grounds one could ban someone wearing a burqa from your restaurant. The court is highly unlikely to create a ruling that would create a situation where people can just discriminate and have it nearly impossible to enforce equal treatment.

I believe if they do rule for the baker in the case before the court now it will be very narrow. It will apply to this one specific case. The person before the court was an artist that decided to go into making cakes. You can't force an artist to do a piece for you. An artist can indeed pick and choose what work they will do. Is a baker that happens to do wedding cakes an artist? I don't think the courts will rule that way.

Exactly. Until God comes down from wherever and tells us he's sending us to hell for serving X, Y, or Z types of people, a business owner saying he/she is refusing service because of some "sincerely held religious belief" is just an excuse for the business to act like an a-hole and blame someone else (who can't defend themselves) for it. That is the epitome of cowardice.

You HAVE freedom of religion.

Freedom of Religion DOES NOT EQUAL discrimination against people who do not adhere to your religion.
How about the right to run a private business as you wish? Why should government tell me how to run the business I OWN? How about they force you to make a cake with a Confederate flag on with a little statue of Robert E. Lee on top.

You might be on to something. I spotted an older thread posted in 2015 on C-D forums for some memories. //www.city-data.com/forum/polit...t-happens.html

The only winner in this will be lawyers.
