The post-war international system is being undermined by a political neophyte of limited intelligence and curiosity with a supersized ego.
A man who pretends to be a great negotiator but winds up getting nothing for all he gives away.
That the system WE built is being put under stress not by the Chinese or the Russians but by Trump, a carnival barking, reality TV scam artist who knows or who cares to know nothing about the international system that sustains us.
This is all just baseless conjecture and B.S. (the bolded is the B.S.)
2017 was a phenomenal year. Much has been accomplished.
Sorry to burst your bubble, but Newt Gingrich is a better judge of Trump than the "New York Slimes," and he has stated clearly that he thinks the President's first year in office has been a tremendous success. I go with that.
The "New York Slimes" is just a left wing rag, not worthy of wrapping the garbage.
It's sooooo funny listening to PROGRESSIVES stamp their feet about not remaining stagnant. I thought their entire platform was built around moving forward and changing with the times? Absolute hypocrites.
What they call "forward" is in reality moving backward. They are socialists.

There's evolutionary change based on reasoned analysis of alternatives, and then there's peremptory impromptu change, based on "gut instinct" or mere personal feelings.
Trump isn't a conservative. He's a radical, by another name.

Lead by example, not by the pocketbook.
There are no friends in international relations - only sharing of interests. And there are worse ways of currying favor, than by buying it.
And does anyone really have a problem with that? It doesn't take a lot of sense to realize that WHAT WE HAVE BEEN DOING FOR 70 YEARS ISN'T WORKING. We sacrifice the lives of far too many American servicemen to "help" people in other countries. We waste far too much taxpayer money doing so. And in spite of all that sacrifice, guess what? Much of the world doesn't like us very much.
Doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result is a definition of insanity. If Trump is willing to at least try to get us out of this mess, good. Start by bringing our troops home from the Middle East and Africa. Stop funding the UN. Stop trying to overthrow foreign governments. And cut back our support of NATO. Use that money to give our taxpayers a break (great way to cover the "$trillion dollars" the left claims the income tax cut will add to the debt).
And put Americans first, not the rest of the world.

Sadly, progressives want to keep sacrificing American lives and treasure on everyone else in the world. Thing is, there is nothing "progressive" about progressives. They are the same primitive socialists that exist in every craphole jungle village. They aren't smart enough to understand, except for capitalism, that could be us.
The International System which we are operating under was conceived by the US after World War II and has given us unprecedented prosperity for the last 70 years.

Well.......70 years of unprecedented prosperity is not the worst thing in the world. What are you looking to trade it for?
Why ask for a kick in the nuts when we have been the best and more prosperous nation on the planet?
Quite well, thank you very much. There's not been a world war since 1945. International trade, exchange of good and services and knowledge, is burgeoning. Western ideas of property-rights, worth-ethic and intellectual vibrancy are almost universally accepted (the notable exception being the Middle East). It could have been much, much worse.

I'll gladly take the past 70 years, vs. the 70 years before that.

Much of the world dislikes the US, simply because the US is the world’s leading nation. The US built the very thing that’s called modernity – culture, technology, trade, fashions and aspirations. Short of ceding the global stage to say China, there’s nothing that could be done, to get the various disgruntled peoples and nations to suddenly start liking the US.
