They aren't frozen over. I don't know where this is coming from.

Erie freezes over first because it's so shallow, especially the western part. I believe Erie is now close to being completely frozen over but still has open water in the eastern basin.

Superior freezes over last and it's very rare.

And yet, in other parts of the country, record highs for fall/winter happened too. *shrug*
Two examples:

Didn't Al Gore say in 2009, that the Arctic would be free of Snow and Ice in 5-7 years, not extended down to the Great Lakes and beyond.

It is called Climate Change now. It the weather is hot it is man's fault, if the weather is cold it is man's fault. The solution? Big Government taxes, fees, and penalties on all fossil fuels, and all users of fossil fuels. Tax the source, the tax those who use it. Everybody wins!!!

Cost of transportation, goods that use oil in the product, and process. Costs of EVERYTHING escalates because all taxes get passed through to the consumer. Oh, your utility bills went up too? Look at the bill. In the very fine print is a new surcharge for the power generated by fossil fuels. Green tax. Yay! We feel better about ourselves now!!!

That global warming thing, sure sucks!
The Great Lakes aren't completely frozen over, I jogged along Lake Michigan yesterday and it was cold as crap, but not frozen over much yet.
