I can somewhat understand the stuff about the homeowners. But if that's not possible, just break up the party, destroy the drugs, and tell them all to go home. No need for 70 trespassing tickets. That's just clogging up the system for nothing.
That's at the Police's discretion - probably heavy-handed tactics for an obviously wild party. I would bet that the majority of those 70 sets of charges (all < 1 oz of MJ) will be dropped.
The kids were drunk, and high, they were turned over to their parents.
Here is more info on this story.
Lt. Steve Burke of West Valley City PD told Gephardt Daily police were first called to a home at 4958 Piney Park Circle around 11:19 p.m. New Year’s Eve with reports of loud music.
When officers arrived they found the residence packed with drunken teenagers. Some of the juveniles were so intoxicated police called for medical help, fearing some of the teens were suffering from alcohol poisoning.
As police processed the scene, a steady stream of parents arrived, waiting to take their teenagers home. Many were less than pleased.
Is this a waste of taxpayers dollars? Should these kids' futures be ruined over weed when most of that 70 probably wasn't even smoking it and doesn't know who had it? Starting the thread now and waiting for the rest of facts because I know I want to discuss this later. https://twitter.com/TyishaWSB/status/948279662576271365
You fell for a race baiting tweet and ran here as fast as you could to race bait yourself. You also grossly exxagerated the situation. You made it sound as if they were all arrested, as in paddy wagons and being booked and processed into jail. The cops called their parents and gave them all tickets for minor consumption. I knew plenty of kids (myself included) who got charged with possesion of alcohol by a minor, public intoxication or possesion of a small amount of weed as teenagers and had no adverse consequences on their lives. They all get wiped clean at 18 y/o anyway.
My favorite part was the race baiting quote from one of the kids....
“I was keeping watch at the door and all of a sudden I see like lights, and I’m like, ‘Holy *****, police are here!’ … but they just happened to bust this party, instead of the other ones that are happening around town.”
If the cops busting a drunken party full of teenagers is so uncommon (it's not), then why was he "keeping watch at the door"?
