The media is simply reporting on the hate that has been fostered and fed by Trump himself from the very moment he threw his hat into the ring, through the primaries, through the presidential campaign, through his first year in office, right on through to this moment.
Everyone knows that when there is a problem spiraling out of control it is imperative that you figure out the root cause and then deal with it.
Trump is the root cause in this case.

You have just aptly explained Trump's trajectory from the primaries through to today. Do you not recall the name calling Trump engaged in with virtually every competitor he had during his short time in politics? Him ridiculing Carly Fiorina's looks? Him trying to shame Ted Cruz's wife?
He set the tone. Time for the cult to own it instead of pretending otherwise.
He ABSOLUTELY set the tone. Trump can dish it out but he cannot take it.

Now, it's possible that both Wolff and his publisher's legal department together have the IQ of a box of rocks. But just for giggles, assume that both Wolff and his publisher's legal department have normal intelligence. If Wolff has the tapes and notes to back up his quotes, he's judgement proof. Because apparently all he's done is quote other people. Even if his quoting is selective - as long as he has the notes to back it up, he's good.

i'd love to just keep to the facts of the topic. we know that michael wolff was given access to the west wing to observe and conduct interviews for a book. "fire and fury" is that book.
so far, the only specific in the book i've seen challenged:
* wolff claimed that kellyanne conway was a pollster that never worked on a national campaign. a right-wing blog disputes this saying conway did work for national campaigns.... as a pollster. seems like it may be an issue of semantics or definitions but..... i'm open to hear the evidence from both sides.
* melania's spokesperson claims she was not upset by trump's win. difficult to confirm/debunk without more information.
* trump claims that he authorized "zero access to WH". that appears most likely false since we know wolff did have access.
* trump claims that he "never spoke to [wolff] for a book". wolff claims that he had a total of 3hours of conversations with trump for the book.
Pompeo has already been picked by Trump to be the next Secretary of State, as soon as Trump gets rid of Tillerson. Everyone knows that Trump responds well to praise and responds negatively to criticism. Pompeo knows how to stay on the good side of Trump and is publicly praising Trump, in an attempt to deflect from Wolff's book.
It' hilarious to watch these staffers go out and lie and praise Trump - one after the other. Imagine the atmosphere at Camp David this weekend where Trump's raging and telling his underlings to go out there and lie. It's much like what Spicey did when he lied about the inauguration crowd size. And Pompeo's praising/gushing/ring kissing has the same credibility as Spicey's crowd size comments. Everyone knows the underlings are being forced to lie by the stable genius.
