One quote from the Trump statement today caught my eye, as it sounds like I've heard him say the same thing about other people who used to work for him:
“ Steve was rarely in a one-on-one meeting with me and only pretends to have had influence to fool a few people with no access and no clue”
Say what you will about President Trump, he sure seems to have had terrible luck with the people he surrounded himself with during the campaign.
But, what confuses me, is this: If Trump believes that Bannon has lost his mind, does that mean that news from Breitbart is just as suspect as the MSM?
And, if Bannon is nuts and never had any one-to-one meetings with Trump, then were all of the glowing things Bannon had to say about the President throughout the campaign and in the interview back in September fake news?
Kushner might not be willing to take the risk and wait for a possible pardon that might not occur, versus taking a "deal" beforehand to save his hide. Maybe Trump promised a pardon but changes his mind in a fit of rage and leaves Kushner to 60 years in prison. Or Maybe Trump resigns in a fit of rage and forgets to pardon Kushner beforehand. Or maybe Trump planned to pardon but has a heart attack in his sleep and never wakes up. This could put Kushner in prison for life with nobody to pardon him.
All these possibilities are running through Kushner's mind 24x7. He can't mention this to Ivanka though. He's got to act like he's going to fall on the sword for his FIL. But he won't.
All of this. Trump's way too mercurial for anybody to rely on, so even if he *promises*.....if they've half a brain, they're gonna say, "Uh, hard pass."
What is Bannon's angle here? I'm asking honestly, I don't understand what he's been doing lately
Maybe he's trying to make peace with his maker before it's too late. The whole screed sounds like it came from someone who just received a fatal diagnosis and wants to set things right.
Y'know, given how quickly Trump 'downgrades' people when they turn on him (Papadopulous and Bannon now being 'mere staffers')....what will Jared Kushner's status become if he turns on dear ol' daddy-in-law? "Oh, him. He was just some guy with a crush on Ivanka."?
Kushner works for free, so he'll probably call him an inexperienced volunteer that was there to support his wife.
