Let's suppose that you're right. Does the President of the United States have nothing better to do, than to taunt and deride "the left"? Or to rephrase: what should be a higher priority - good governance of the entire nation (left, right and center)... or according special effort to irritating and lampooning a certain part of the nation?
I think Trump is continuing to bait the anti-Trumpites, keeping them off balance and focused on meaningless tweets, rather than substantive issues (taxes, budgets, healthcare, etc). He doesn't have to prove that he is the President -- and their continued efforts to claim he isn't acting "Presidential" make them look silly!
The simple fact is it doesn't matter what Trump says or does, the left is going to attack it. - So, he continues to make them look confused and impotent as they dither about meaningless tweets, Russian collusion in the election and Steve Bannon quotes -- (This only serves to further diminish the credibility of the left (in the eyes of voters) when it comes to real issues).

I disagree--Trump doesn't 'strategize.' He cannot even see a few days ahead, never mind 'plan' what he will say or do. He just reacts--the way a child does. Period.
And right now his head is exploding and he's having a nuclear meltdown all over that big button on his desk.
Or, possibly to distract peopleaway from his empty promises that nobody's working on.
He improved the tax code and got rid of the ACA penalty.
If that is all he accomplishes, it will be better than Obama’s reign.
