The "left" did make this same argument about Obama.
Say what?
Seemed the whole time Obama was POTUS, we were arguing whether he was really born in America and whether Obama was also the reason for the Great Recession rather than helping to avoid worse. Not the same argument(s) at all but hardly more ridiculous!
You are talking about confronting facts as you start this thread with the title you do?
"Dangerous territory" is when we twist or alter facts to suit our agenda, our bias...
Yes. Lots of green. Yes, stock market at a record high. Yes, layoffs have turned to a low unemployment rate, etc., and you want to suggest these facts demonstrate that Trump is "the greatest on the economy?"
Very "dangerous territory" indeed, I don't care whether you are liberal or conservative. Understanding these dynamics is important and so much ignorance about them among too many Americans is very dangerous indeed!
"Ignorance is bliss" however. I'll give you that!!!
"The facts are inescapable: The Obama years have been among the best of times to be a stock investor, going all the way back to the dawn of the 20th century.
Consider that had you been prescient enough to buy shares of a low-cost stock index fund on Mr. Obama’s first inauguration day, on Jan. 20, 2009, you would now have tripled your money. Stock market performance of this level has rarely been surpassed."
To me, all of this “Obama/Trump is causing the stock market to go up” stuff is silly. I’d say that a few trillion dollars of free money from the Fed has a lot more to do with the big rise.
Not to mention all the "movers and shakers" in a $20 trillion dollar -- per year -- economy who REALLY determine our economic fortunes (or losses), none in government, as I too have tried to point out all too many times already. Still all too many Americans seem to think our POTUS not only drives our economy and all the rest but can do so in a matter of just a year!
Maybe because it's nothing more than business as usual for the past few years? I mean, look at the job market. Less jobs were added in 2017 than in 2016. That's not really major breaking news to brag on.
