I'm not sure why the exact cut off of '7' is considered to be 'drastic'. What quantitatively defines 'drastic' so that we can apply such a metric?

Why is '7'appropriate and not 7.1 or 7.5 or 8 or 4.2 or 5 or 6 to define your term of 'drastic'?

Madera, Yuba, Bakersfield, Hanford-Corcoran, Visalia and Porterville are in the few California counties that voted Trump. That’s GOP territory.

Same for Jefferson County, NY (Watertown), Yuma, AZ and and Cape May County NJ (Ocean City). That’s right, 8 of the 13 worst are Republican country.

Yes Watertown, NY near Fort Drum military base near the Canada border is a liberal city, no mention of NYC. We need to get a new mayor in Watertown!

If the OP did this on his own he has too much time on his hands, I'm guessing its a reputable source.

I'd hate to see the unemployment numbers in West Virginia, the poorest state in the country and one in which every county voted for Trump.

The San Francisco-San Mateo region's unemployment rate last month was 2.2%.

San Diego's unemployment rate was 3.1%

Seattle's was 3.7%

Portland, Oregon's was 3.7%

You're right -- bunch of total screw ups.

Most of the metros on that list. The OP simply saw blue states and assumed these were liberal areas.
