Not in America, where the government is corrupt and beholden to big business. It works elsewhere though.
This is true, money talks and sway what politicians do. The healthcare/pharma and insurance companies are the biggest lobbyists and what they're doing is working - a combined 6B since 1998 to now. We have a dysfunctional system where they are benefitting bigtime and Americans are literally paying the price. Until we put some regulations on what they do, like other industrial countries have, the problem will only get worse.
We have seen the great destruction of a once good healthcare delivery system for the middle class. It was never perfect but it was far better before ObamaCare. Now we have virtually useless benefits, a shortage of medical care and a group of medical professionals who don't give a you-know-what about you. But don't worry, your Senator or Congressman is one the case. Their in the same boat as you (hahaha!).
Obama instituted the ACA with the best intentions to get every one affordable healthcare and to give the 20-30 million people who didnt have healthcare an affordable way to get it. alas the Republicans were against the ACA before it ever got off the ground and did their best to sabotage the system from the get go .= https://www.google.ca/search?source=....0.D_6SqnSezNA
"Our Healthcare System Has Really Declined for the Middle Class"
My immediate family and I pay our primary physicians in cash and receive excellent care. However, we have to use our varied insurance companies for specialists. The difference I've witnessed in the last few years is appalling. Going to a specialist for tests is like a cattle call. Getting the test results doesn't take horribly long. However, getting them to coordinate with my primary care doctor, about treatment, takes forever.

And whose fault is that. How about we all have the same health insurance that congress gets.

I wish we could have surrounded the capital right after the tax bill was done and deny Congress leave until they signed into law three laws. First single-payer healthcare, second no budget, no pay so Congress has skin in the game when it comes to fiscal cliffs or shutdowns, and third a law demanding Congressional term limits. No more than 20 years combined in both houses. Sadly, nobody wants to be that rash. Plus I would not have the time off from work.

Sadly the lobby of any big industry will never allow getting money out of politics. Trump talked a lot of draining the swamp and he directed that at regulations but put corporatist heads in place that only removed regulations but still hurt the little guy because it removes protections.
If we believe that public health should be a for-profit enterprise, we will reap the natural fruits of that belief.
