Amazing what happens when you invest in birth control access and don't try to pawn off ridiculous sex ed practices such as 'abstinence' like it'll actually accomplish anything. It also saved $70,000,000 in CO taxpayer money.

Good job Colorado, not letting religion get in the way of sensible sex ed and sexual health public policy.

I see nothing religious or ridiculous about encouraging children to abstain.

Encourage abstinence all you want. If that works, fine by me.

Alas, we have hundreds of years of experience that it doesn’t work for everyone .

It's only ridiculous because it does not work.

So you're saying that "abstinence doesn't actually accomplish anything?" So much for science.

P.S. Fact: "Abstinence" until [gasp!] the parties can afford a baby--you know, the product of sex that today's oh-so-sophisticated teens apparently know nothing about--or until one or both of them use [gasp! gasp!] already available birth control, will save a hell of a lot MORE taxpayer dollars across the country than that relatively miniscule amount in CO alone.

Why do you think that sex education precludes abstinence?

Good job Colorado, horrible job OP. The way to get people to see a positive is not to first poke them in the eye.

Of course abstinence accomplishes something.

So does access to accurate knowledge and birth control.

You are mistaken if you think the goal of abstinence only sex education is to reduce the birth rate. The goal is to reduce behavior those advocating it perceive as immoral.
