There is a reason why the Mexican government is so against a border wall. Actually a couple of reasons. First they want central Americans to keep moving north. They don't want to deal with as well as poor Mexicans mostly from the south of the country. The other reason is the flow of illegal drugs which the government profits from. As well as their economy. If the wall was not at all a problem for them there would not be so against it.
Also most of the drugs intercepted occurs at the ports of entry. A large percentage of drugs comes across the border at the weak points. I used to live in an area where you would see people walking along dirt roads with backpacks full of drugs.
I am talking about security. Whether it be your home or the USA. You lock your house up and perhaps have a security system. That lessens the chance of someone entering.
However if someone is crossing out in the desert and not through the port of entry there has to be a reason why. Its easy for a Mexican National to get authorization to enter the USA. If they are crossing illegally there is a good chance they have issues we don't need. Like being a criminal or previously deported.
No it is NOT. Right now there's a 3 week wait at the US consulate in Guadalajara and that is just for the initial interview. Check your facts.
How does lessening the amount of money some individual Mexicans will receive from their relatives in the States get back to the U.S. taxpayers who will be footing the bill for the wall?

Also, How is a wall going to stop money from being sent via Western Union to Mexico?
The only way to stop that is to inprison the business owners who hire illegal immigrants in the first place.
I don't want you to get your hopes up about 'the wall' keeping all of the millions of illegal aliens from entering the U.S.
China has replaced Mexico as top country or origin of illegal immigrants. China does not take their 'illegals' back and they're not the only country that refuses to do so.
Having illegals from those other countries is no more appealing than illegals from anywhere south of our border. Illegal is the defining word.

Yep, the majority of illegals have been here for over a decade.

There are still 500,000 crossing our border illegally ever year. As for those already here, they need to be deported no matter how long they have been here.

That was a rallying cry, but people know the law. It is incredible that such a scoundrel can convince people that he cares about them and will solve their problems. Most Americans know that he really does not care and is in it only for himself.
I think the phrase 'not my president' means more than anything is that he doesn't represent these people's interests, and in that way they would be correct. He is divisive and never pivoted or reached out. He has his small base and he plays to that exclusively. Legally however, he has the oval office and we have to acknowledge that (as unqualified as he is).
How did Trump win the election with just a small base supporting him?
Nothing will change in regards to the worse that come here illegally.
Let's be honest with ourselves, people aren't frothing at the mouths at the prospects of keeping low level illegals that work as farm hands, building helpers, nannies, etc......the biggest selling point behind the wall is to keep out the worst of the worst, like those drug dealers, gang bangers, etc. See now, criminals will find a way in, drugs will continue business as usual.
But hey, at least Rosita won't come in and take your pot/pan scrubbing job.
