Although China still uses vast amounts of coal. The trend is waning.

"China is canceling plans to build more than 100 coal-fired power plants, seeking to rein in runaway, wasteful investment in the sector while moving the country away from one of the dirtiest forms of electricity generation, the government announced in a directive made public this week."

Not going to stop the vast number of new coal jobs in West Virginia or is it.

Good for them.

And, no matter what the global coal market does, there will be no new coal jobs in WV. They won't even keep the ones they've got. Because automation marches on, and replacing dirty and dangerous jobs is a pretty high priority for any sensible coal company.

As Trump backs away from environmental issues, China is moving to take our place. They are smart, and realize the future requires us, as humans, to be more green. Just watch, China will be seen as the world leader on many things as they insert themselves into a position of power and influence.

We keep getting dumber, they keep getting smarter. All of us better start learning Chinese.

And people are still dumb enough to believe the Chinese....

What about the Kyoto Protocol that they agreed to?

Ohhhhhhhhhhhh, most of you have no clue what this is...

Kyoto Protocol: 10 years of the world's first climate change treaty

Of course slick wille was part of this:

It was hailed as an “environmentally strong and economically sound” deal by US president Bill Clinton, speaking just after agreement had been reached in 1997.

Coal is dead. Suggest people read about the economic situation behind it Vs. other clean fuels for electricity esp natural gas. Trump is doing nothing more than pander to his uneducated base.

You folks should also look into what ISO 14000 is and what companies are actually doing, rather than spewing gibberish....

Read where China is stockpiling gold to back their currency and pressuring the Saudis to do oil business in their yuan, cutting out the dollar.

https://www.cnbc.com/2017/10/11/chin...us-dollar.html

Also been reading about the deals they are making in Mexico and how they are exploring a free trade agreement as well.

Trump used to go on about China manipulating currency and how the U.S. needed to this, that, and the other.

Don't hear much about that any more.

Yeah, I can't help but draw comparisons to post industrial age England. We're up against a competitor that's significantly larger, younger, and on the rise. We seem to be waning in our global influence through a lot of self imposed wounds and policy mistakes. That said, a lot of our power comes from being the global reserve currency and China taking steps to undo that should worry all of us.
