Transgenderism. They've always identified as female, but they are finally able to be who they've always wanted to be. Thanks libs. I feel like at least 75% of millennials are female also, but that's for a different thread.

Uh...science?

“You can't always tell a sea turtle's sex by looking, so researchers kicked off a "turtle rodeo." They stood atop skiffs and raced toward swimming turtles and launched themselves like bull wrestlers onto the animals' carapaces. After gently steering each turtle to shore, they took DNA and blood samples, and made tiny incisions to inspect turtle gonads.”

So then, the turtles being identified as females are adults not hatchlings. These turtles can live for decades if not a century or more. Therefore, all these females were probably hatched decades ago. They are not babies currently hatching at a ratio of 99 to 1 female.

Good time to be a male green turtle, with all that green female turtle trim just floating around.
