I remember seeing a few people bashing Trump for having a successful TV show but it certainly wasn't the main thing liberals were complaining about. In fact it barely gets brought up.
Nobody actually cares about Trump being successful in TV - about the only thing he ever really succeeded at doing. The problem is that he is a sleazy, bigoted, stupid, immature, and mentally unstable con-man. Too bad right-wingers just can't figure that part out and instead believed his lies and nutball TV persona.
No, liberals just think it would be funny if they nominated a more popular TV host that is richer than Trump and no bankruptcies or divorces. Kind of like poking Trump supporters in the eye with it. That would be very funny. Same with Mark Cuban - someone richer than Trump. Other contenders are Tom Steyer and Howard Schultz.

You went all-in with a morally bankrupt con-man who said every stupid thing under the sun to win the presidency - and you believed it.
Not a fraction of the right-wing extremists who lick Trump's boots today would have trusted him before he ran as a sainted Republican with their retirement accounts, house for a weekend, or wife or daughter for a night. We get to nominate and possibly elect someone richer than Trump that gets to open hotels by the White House and direct visitors to stay there, vacation every weekend, hire family, provide security for 20+ family members and watch TV all day. Oh and they get to charge the country $65,000 in one month for the Secret Service to use their elevator.
There were many reasons not to elect Donald Trump as President, but one that is seldom mentioned is the fact that it was subtle encouragement to every person without any background or knowledge of politics to imagine they could be qualified to be President. I suspect in future years, we'll be seeing all kinds of television celebrities, pro-athletes, and local winners of pie eating contests trying to run for President.
In the past, there was an assumption that you ought to least have served a few years as a senator, governor, legislator etc. to be President. With the election of Trump that bit of commonsense went out the window.

Not sure about Trump since he refuses to provide documents (sort of like his health report) but apparently Oprah is richer. Either way, we're talking about billions so it's all good. And Oprah never filed for bankruptcy, Trump has multiple times.
