The author doesn't say that. He acknowledges that each person may have his/her own perspective and in some cases, the author published their words and thoughts as they were offered and in others, he attempted to synthesize these into a conclusion.

Which is pretty much how all people write about other people.

There is no "universal" truth.

If the author wrote that X person called Y person an "idiot" that is what the author is saying that this person said. This particular author even has tape-recorded conversations for some of this stuff, so I am pretty sure he's not "lying."

I wish this administration and those who back it would get over the concept that someone disliking or disagreeing with someone and being vocal about it isn't instantly a "liar."

Trump has zero problems referring to everyone he doesn't like or agree with as a "liar," but if someone claims the same about him, he loses his mind.

Why? He's entitled to his own opinion about people and they are entitled to theirs.

He cannot shut them up just because he disagrees.

Trump constantly accuses Clinton of being a criminal, though she's never been convicted of a crime or even charged with one.

Trump accused Ted Cruz's father of being involved in JFK's assassination.

Trump accused Obama of committing a felony. DOJ says no evidence of him wiretapping Trump.

...

Lies, insults, and slanderous false accusations are Trump's M.O.

Why are Trump and his followers in such a fluster about it now?

Why should the people hold the govt/ president to the constitution in this regard, but in other issues, let them trample on it as much as they want?

Imo, if we are going to get outraged and demand they honor the Constitution/ Bill of Rights with this, we also need to demand they do the same for other things as well.

I read it differently.

"Wolff says in the introduction that many of the accounts "are in conflict with one another" and may be "badly untrue," according to thehill.com. He goes on to say he "settled on a version of events" he thought were true."

It's a great opportunity for the publisher to get on his high horse and pose as a great first amendment defender. But there was never any danger of the book not being published.

Any opinion to the contrary is against the Constitution.
Then hate speech laws are unconstitutional as I have been saying for years.

They are welcome to sue. From the publisher's reply to Trump's lawyers:

"...Henry Holt and Mr. Wolff will comply with any and all document preservation obligations that the law imposes upon them. At the same time, we must remind you that President Trump, in his personal and governmental capacity, must comply with the same legal obligations regarding himself, his family members, their businesses, the Trump campaign, and his administration, and must ensure all appropriate measures to preserve such documents are in place...

"...Should you pursue litigation against Henry Holt or Mr. Wolff, we are quite confident that documents related to the contents of the book in the possession of President Trump, his family members, his businesses, his campaign, and his administration will prove particularly relevant to our defense..."

Trump has been talking about libel laws for years. It didn't just start yesterday.
