Thats only natural, of course they are going to aggressively target anyone trying to release secrets they do not want released. Edward Snowden is going thru the same thing, he is a true patriot by definition, but unfortunately the US public was too brainwashed/ conditioned, so instead of addressing the real problem, they go after the messenger!!
Point is, a patriot is the same thing as a terrorist in the eyes of a tyrannical authority.

If I am not mistaken he was arrested on the warrant for the rape charges and was released on bail while they determined if they were going to extradite him. Once he realized they were, he fled to the Eq embassy. So now he is wanted for that, despite the fact that the originating charge has been dropped.
Its like being put in jail for a crime you didn't commit, then escaping, get exonerated only to go back to jail for breaking out of jail.
