Last week, these Cult 45 people were happy to announce that California was going broke. They must think that our memories are as faulty as the nonsense they keep trying to push here. This bunch is becoming more pathetic and desperate, to deny the reality that Trumpism is teetering at the edge of the Abyss.

And yet more people want to live there than the utopia of South Dakota.

What exactly is "overtaxing" ? How can you determine what level of taxation is right ? Not all States charge their residents exactly the same, some have different types of taxes than others.

As much as we all dislike taxes, there ain't no free ride, all the services we want come at a price. Where do you think infrastructure, roads, government assistance, and all that comes from ?

Florida has the right level of taxation in my opinion.

The nation saw this summer how incredible, brilliantly operated it is over the summer when they had the hurricane issues. True leadership thanks to the governor of Florida.

Florida despite it's extremely low taxes operates better during the midst of a hurricane than California does on a normal day.

Every one rave's in awe over Florida and the fantastic infrastructure, cleanliness.

Florida has no state income tax and much lower sales taxes than California.

I have been in Florida and they have smooth roads, fantastic infrastructure, well-funded universities and the state doesn't have the social problems of California.

This is Florida infrastructure and cleanliness with it's zero state income tax.

California infrastructure with it's 10.2% income tax on the 53,000th dollar of taxable income compared to zero in Florida.

Glad to see they have a surplus but I guess a 7 billion dollar surplus but the surplus is basically due to California's socialist level of taxation and third-world quality of services except for a few small elite universities

California for instance confiscates 10.2% on the $53,000th dollar of taxable income compared to 2.04% in North Dakota and zero in South Dakota, Nevada, Wyoming and Washington.

North Dakota would have a massive surplus also if it taxed the middle-class at 5 times the rate it does and spent so little money on education per-capita and had a lower than third-world quality safety-net for poor citizens.

California has the absolute worst in social services anywhere in country for American-born citizens.

California for instance has 114,000 homeless people on the streets and is the absolute worst state when it comes to any form of safety-net.

California will never in it's wildest dreams have as extensive of a safety-net as Republican states.

https://www.nytimes.com/2017/12/21/u...-increase.html

California liberals don't believe in good health-care unless it's celebrities going to Cedar-Sanai. The state reimburses physicians at 52% of Medicare rates on average. Compared to 98% in North Dakota and 126% in Alaska.

https://www.kff.org/medicaid/state-i...:%22desc%22%7D
Lots of terminally ill and severely disabled homeless on the streets of Los Angeles because the Democratic party and California liberals ration and fund Medicaid at such a low rate that health care providers are patient dumping people who should be in the hospital.

California also has third-world quality prisons that get international media attention for violating civil rights.

California liberals also really don't care to fund education as much as many Republican states.

Education Spending Per Student by State

Alaska $20,000 per-pupil funding, Wyoming $16,000 per-pupil spending, North Dakota $13,000 per-pupil spending compared to below national average California at $10,000

With Socialist level taxes that would Europeans seem like libertarians in California plus the absolute worst of public services and safety-net for poor American, I can certainly see why they have a surplus.
Are you serious? Go live in the Dakotas, NV or Wyoming, then. They don't require half the infrastructure CA does. Next stop: Siberia.
And WA? Really?? Did you not know that WA makes up the difference via RE taxes?

Bogus comparisons. Way to whine about a budget that's finally balanced. ...temporarily, at least. Watch: that surplus will go to pay for state pensions. Gone, overnight.

Most of FL is going to be underwater in a few years. Some of it already is.

Isn't North Dakota one of those places where rents suddenly shot up through the roof, even for a lousy room or studio, due to a resource extraction boom?
