I hate some of the destruction that the dems/libs are doing in my state.

They jacked up cost of living while keeping wages stagnant. Also, they're in charge of the local school district. They're having budget problems while conned everyone to vote on raising sales taxes for school funding while the school board members are making 300k (almost double of what Governor Brian Sandoval makes).

Sometimes, I wish I can tear down the "Welcome to Nevada" sign and replace it with "Sorry, we're full"

Interesting because we have tourists and beaches too

Glad to see they have a surplus but I guess a 7 billion dollar surplus but the surplus is basically due to California's socialist level of taxation and third-world quality of services except for a few small elite universities

California for instance confiscates 10.2% on the $53,000th dollar of taxable income compared to 2.04% in North Dakota and zero in South Dakota, Nevada, Wyoming and Washington.

North Dakota would have a massive surplus also if it taxed the middle-class at 5 times the rate it does and spent so little money on education per-capita and had a lower than third-world quality safety-net for poor citizens.

California has the absolute worst in social services anywhere in country for American-born citizens.

California for instance has 114,000 homeless people on the streets and is the absolute worst state when it comes to any form of safety-net.

California will never in it's wildest dreams have as extensive of a safety-net as Republican states.

https://www.nytimes.com/2017/12/21/u...-increase.html

California liberals don't believe in good health-care unless it's celebrities going to Cedar-Sanai. The state reimburses physicians at 52% of Medicare rates on average. Compared to 98% in North Dakota and 126% in Alaska.

Lots of terminally ill and severely disabled homeless on the streets of Los Angeles because the Democratic party and California liberals ration and fund Medicaid at such a low rate that health care providers are patient dumping people who should be in the hospital.

California also has third-world quality prisons that get international media attention for violating civil rights.

California liberals also really don't care to fund education as much as many Republican states.

Education Spending Per Student by State

Alaska $20,000 per-pupil funding, Wyoming $16,000 per-pupil spending, North Dakota $13,000 per-pupil spending compared to below national average California at $10,000

With Socialist level taxes that would Europeans seem like libertarians in California plus the absolute worst of public services and safety-net for poor American, I can certainly see why they have a surplus.
Now if only they could use that "surplus" to pay off their big pension debt and that water problem they're having. Oh wait, my bad, we only want to pander to border hoppers (if only to get their vote so we can stay in power and live like kings while the rest of the state goes to hell in a handbasket!).

BTW, glad you used the word "confiscates", as that's really what it is.

I live in Illinois, where our pension debt has caused massive problems with our budget, our murder rate in Chicago is the world record (or at least the USA record for sure) and our politicians are known nationwide as being corrupt. But hey, we vote blue, blue, blue, so it's all good.

Fail. CA, though I would believe it's only "tourism" from the third world as things like the murder of Kate Steinle tend to scare people off, is supposed to have lots of tourism too.

So now suddenly the con narrative is that CA isn't spending ENOUGH on the social safety net? lol... you people are funny. Thanks for your "concern."

You call that flooding? I have seen worse flooding on some local streets here after a big rain!

"Most of" Florida is not going to flood, so relax.

I am really impressed that you even attempted to paint a $7 billion surplus as a really bad thing.

An A for effort.

A F for logic.

The next time this subject comes up, it won't be about a surplus because the low-tax states are no longer subsidizing the high-tax rates of states like CA.
