Dr. King might not be relevant to us white folks, but he is to many blacks. I personally respect him, and think he was one of the last great forces in the lives of many black citizens.
Big deal, they idle the buses for less than a minute, and you all are upset about that. No wonder so many blacks feel they are not respected by us whites.
1 minute isn't enough to get people to reflect, honor, or do anything other than feel mildly inconvenienced when they're packed like sardines in a train during flu season.
Most likely, few will even notice. Train delays are routine.
I remember when I lived in Virginia in the early 80’s. I was a truck driver and my favourite radio station was DC101 with the morning show headed by the Greaseman.
He was completely off the wall and was stating that they finally named a federal holiday after a black man. There was a pregnant pause and then he said “ought to shoot four more of them and get the whole week off”.
I admit I laughed for ten minutes. He also got suspended.
He should have gotten fired. That's vile.
