If the facts offend, change the facts. That's intellectually superior.

Trying to limit, control or shut down speech is intellectually inferior.

That's what free speech and open dialog is all about.

Like I said, anyone blaming a STATE for what these people did is intellectually inferior. Facts are facts.

Would it be intellectually superior or inferior for a state to pass laws that are harmful to their citizens.

Imagine if the girl that escaped was beat down emotionally to the point that she couldn't use the phone to call the police or was confused if it was allowed by law to report such activity.

After all she is reporting on a crime and criminals and cooperating with the police. Not always acceptable in Ca. by laws recently passed. .

Isn't that what being progressive is all about ? Progress down a path creating chaos until a point of insanity and achieve a complete breakdown in society so it can be reformed into utopia.

What recently passed laws? I'm not being snarky, I'm genuinely curious.

Some additional information from Fox News:

Parents at California house of horrors had 'God call on them', family says, as details of their past emerge

A California couple accused of shackling many of their 13 children to their beds had such a large family because “God called on them,” according to the children's grandparents, the insight coming as more details emerged Tuesday of what occurred inside the house of horrors that's left a community on edge.

David Turpin, 57, and Louise Turpin, 49, were still being held Tuesday on suspicion of torture and child endangerment after 13 of their kids allegedly were found captive in the couple's home.

James and Betty Turpin, David's parents and the children's grandparents, also told ABC News the Turpin children were given “very strict homeschooling” and were forced to memorize long passages in the Bible, with a few trying to memorize the entire religious text outright.

James and Betty also told ABC News that, despite David and Louise being in the Pentecostal faith, they did not have a church in the area and knew of no friends of the couple.

The couple apparently ran a public K-12 institution out of their home called Sandcastle Day School that opened in 2011, with David Turpin listed as the principal, according to the Los Angeles Times, citing public records.

The newspaper said the family bought the four-bedroom, three-bathroom, 2,388-square-foot home in 2014 – a year after it was built – for $351,000, according to county property records. They arrived in the Golden State in 2009, the newspaper added, citing a comment made on a family photo posted online.

Prior to making the move, the Turpins lived in Texas.

Most progressives don't have 13 children, then starve them, force them to memorize the bible, or shackle them to their beds.

Most conservatives don't either.

So, how about we not make this about conservatives vs. progressives for once?

Let's talk reality....

1. The Couple was from WV - and then moved to TX.
2. Considering #1, it is highly likely they are "Christians of some sort", especially with so many kids.
3. Moving from WV to TX is a dead giveaway - liberals don't do that.
4. Filing Bankruptcy in TX - and still having money for a big house? They must be personal friends with Trump.

Let's face it. These people are criminal AND crazy...my guess is in some kind of fundie way, given the home schooling and all I have list above.

Those not agreeing.....well, you are probably wrong!

Isn't it great that with Fundies now installed in "the swamp" we can have fundie schools everywhere and the taxpayers can fund them?

What a paradise? Now every crazy can create their own "school". Standards? You mean like "common core"? Fundies and the right rallied against standards for years.

You see - they don't think "smart" is the same everywhere. In Texas maybe we have 3 moons while in NY we just have one. 20 Trillion and 1.5 Trillion = 21.5 Trillion in debt...and increase.

But ask those finely schooled tea partiers who spent 8 years (exactly) saying the End was Near if we don't LOWER the debt and they will tell you that adding 1.5 Trillion is lowering it.

Complete Chaos. Hey, since 1 and 1 make 3, maybe more murders and violence is a GOOD thing because people save money on mental health and education issues. Devos can then give the extra money to that expert in Nuclear Weapons, Rick Perry.

BTW, one of the "bully type" pastors in my local town...with a BIG following had a case where he stood behind one of his flock that starved their kids. Last week the "Pastor" was charged as a sexual predator.

It's almost like you can write the scripts for these things. I could write a book just in my little (Republican) town that ties Lockheed-Martin to gay sex and bribes, has MANY ponzi schemes in these churches....let alone the starvation and sex.

Do you want a pic of our Major (top LM exec) in his underpants. He wears Calvin.

What it is about people that they enjoy being abused by people who spout scripture? Mind control?

It's time to get religion 100% out of government. 110%. Then it's time to enforce LAW against these creeps who marry off 14 year olds to 50 year old men, etc.

Let's clean house and have a decent society. Let's separate out REAL sexual predators (like the Pastor) from the less serious (19 year old dates 17 year old) and perhaps start a concentration camp where these sickos go for the remainder of their lives.
