Attached is an article by Ron Brownstein that shows the irony of Trump voters being anti-immigrant. They’re predominantly older voters who are expecting to draw Social Security and Medicare. To keep both programs, we need more young taxpayers. Immigrants account for about 88% of population growth. Without a growing base of workers, the safety net social programs will enter a death spin. We already have a tremendous problem with the cost of entitlement programs. Over the long haul, stopping or vastly curtailing immigration makes it worse.
We need respectful, lawful immigrants; not ILLEGALS! My God, liberals are low I.Q.

I’m certainly not a liberal, but Trump and his supporters are shifting the focus to be on immigration in general. It’s not solely about illegal immigration anymore (and yes, I strongly oppose illegal immigration).

Well, yeah, we kind of do. Did you bother to read the link, or at least the quote, OP posted?

We now have a "2 for 1" order to reduce regulations. Maybe we could go "3 for 1" on new immigrations - 3 discharged illegals for 1 newly vetted immigrant.
Let me clarify. Once we get a handle on the invaders, we can resume a carefully scrutinized immigration process.
So are you advocating shutting down immigration entirely, at least for the short term? You realize that would seriously harm SS and Medicare and the economy, right?
Given that many illegals are coming in legally, you might even have to suspend travel to the US to get a complete handle on the situation. Don’t tell me you be in favor of that. (Even then, it’d be virtually impossible to truly, completely “get a handle” on it all.)

What a crock. We got plenty of taxpayers. We need to get the illegals out and give those jobs and wages back to Americans. The illegals have stolen those entry level labor and skilled labor jobs from people that want them. We used to have Americans doing the job of roofers, bricklayers, carpenters, sheetrockers, and general construction workers and we made good money doing it. Real good money.
Then we let the illegals sneak in and greedy business owners figured out they could line their own pockets off of the slave labor wages they paid. And these illegals do not do better quality work then Americans. Quite the opposite.
Deport the illegals, make E-verify mandatory, have immigrations do work site audits, and Americans can take those jobs back.
