Okay, sure.

Can't believe you're falling for that again.
Well, then, Republicans should stop trying to deal with the Democrats on this issue and tell them to go pound sand. But they're not doing that. Ever wonder why?

(Hint: They read the polls, too.)

Not too long ago the GOP threatened government shutdown unless we place a sequester on military spending. Later they accused Dems for "gutting the military".

Nope. Take a look at the result of the 2014 midterms, after the last shutdown in 2013... Sweeping gains by the GOP in the Senate and House, followed by Trump's election in 2016.

Someone has been telling you "tall tales" about who was blamed and what the consequences were. The Dem propaganda machine seems to be running overtime.

I any case, Republicans don't need votes Democrats. They hold the majority in both houses and the POTUS is a Republican.
Incorrect. 60 votes are needed for cloture in the Senate before the Bill can proceed to a vote.

The fact that Dems will block cloture because they prioritize illegal aliens over US Citizens is quite evident. And that will make GREAT GOP campaign ads for the 2018 midterms.

Okay, go with that. Looks like Republicans have nothing to worry about, right?

Default Dems: No deal, no compromise, give us everything we want on DACA (illegal-alien voters) or we'll shut down the govt

It's the same attitude they've brought to budget negotiations time and again: Our way or the highway. Even when they are in the minority. And the Republicans have always caved.

Too bad (for them) that the people elected Donald Trump, who has been pointing out the truth of what they are doing from the first day he became President. Truth is the one thing Democrats cannot defeat, and it always goes against their agenda.

Curbed? Yes. Eliminated? No. The reason, for me anyway, is twofold.

1. You don't fight poverty by importing more of it, so we should switch to a merit based system that excludes impoverished low skilled people.
2. Automation will be replacing many of our lower tier jobs so we do not need(and our workforce cannot absorb) hordes of new unskilled immigrants. Automation will end up replacing many mid level jobs eventually as well, so even merit based immigration should be limited.

Regardless of how anyone feels about race and culture, if we consider those two points when establishing our immigration policy our nation will be better off. Even as our economy grows and evolves our priority should be the citizens of this nation and their prosperity/quality of life. New citizens should be taken in from external sources only to the degree that they help to further that goal.

Exactly. Just look at what happened after the 2013 shutdown in which the GOP sided with the American public against the Dems. They were rewarded with sweeping GOP gains in the House and Senate in the 2014 midterms, followed by Trump's election in 2016.

I don't think they understand that they're sabotaging themselves again.
