OP doesn’t understand what it means to be actually a leader.

The way right wingers are trying to spin this story is hilarious.

Nope. They understand it exactly as the American public does.

Harvard CAPS/Harris Poll results:
Quote:
"When respondents were asked whether they "favor or oppose Democrats voting to shut the government down” if the funding measure does not restore work permits for those protected under the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program, 58 percent said they oppose a shutdown.

Views on the issue fall generally along ideological lines, with 68 percent of Democrats in favor of a shutdown aimed at extending the DACA program, while 83 percent of Republicans and 65 percent of independents would oppose a shutdown driven by an immigration fight, according to the poll."
Poll: Majority oppose shutting down government over DACA

HUGE strategic error committed by Dems. They'll end up paying for it, dearly, in the 2018 midterms, when voters remember that the Dems prioritized illegal aliens OVER US Citizens.

Only right-wingers aka “true believers” don’t want people who were brought here as children to stay. It’s a false narrative to say the government shut down because of DACA, when it easily could’ve been included in this bill. Republicans (well, some of them) wanted something to hold over Democrats later in the year. It’s up to the majority in each House to get a deal done.

Once they turn 18.5 years old, it's their responsibility to apply to immigrate LEGALLY. If they don't, they are ILLEGAL aliens, which is a violation of Federal Law. The penalty: deportation.

The same is true of any and all illegal aliens, including DACAs over age 18.5. They violated Federal Law.

The hell you don't. Look at all the US Citizen kids whose parents are in prison for Federal Law violations. Neither you nor the Democrats have lobbied for clemency/pardons on their behalf.
Oh please strawman. Bank robbery committed by parents doesn't jail their children. Just like immigration violations of the parents shouldn't deport their children

Nope. Violations of Federal Law have prescribed penalties. The penalty for illegal immigration is deportation. Commit the crime = pay the penalty.

There is no path to citizenship for the vast majority of DACA recipients. There is nothing for them to apply to because it doesn't exist. . Perhaps we should create one specific for DACA since you suggest it.

I would support it as long as the same strict requirements for DACA eligibility is also applied. This also implies that their immediate family does not qualify for status and any employer hiring someone with out status is held legally accountable

Spin it.. But you can't.

You can keep repeating the bank robber analogy but it fails because we do not hand the same punishment to children of those parents who commit the crime of robbery. Several posters have already pointed out the analogy failure.

Nor should there be. They're illegal aliens.

They can self-deport and apply for legal immigration from their country of citizenship.

Again... It's not reasonable to expect someone who has no ties, language nor support structure to self deport to a country they have never known. That is punishing the children for the crime of their parents. As a father I would not support any law that victimized people especially children.

You have nothing really except to repeat yourself. And once again you avoid the very premise of our disagreement
