He’s a poor negotiator and it’s showing.

I'd rather hold the government hostage over border security than to reward illegal aliens any day of the week. The former is for our national security and the other is for what? After all is said and done these DACAs will end up costing us far more than $18 billion. DACA should have been a separate bill not part of the budget then it could have been negotiated over budget issues not something unrelated.

He did. He said the government could 'use a good shut down". So here we are. And as Trump again pointed out - it always falls on the leader.

Schumer offered full funding for the wall. And the 'great negotiator' turned it down. Wow. What a deal-maker Trump is. We are watching his so-called 'skills' shut down the government

And that is exactly what he is doing. Claire McCaskill offered up a bill to keep the troops paid during the shut down (as Obama did). McConnell turned it down.

That's on the republicans.

Repubs dumber than rocks.

Schummer thinks the people are dumber than rocks

Repubs are for protecting daca. That's the message they need to emphasize along with what they now are marketing.

Dems have used their hate and fear mongering effectively here by implying NO DACA if they don't make it contingent upon passing a budget.

Repubs could easily counter that claim by also saying they are also committed to addressing daca.

Guiterrez on tv making it sound like all daca will be deported if they don't make that contingent upon approving the budget.

Can it be both side are playing us and the repubs just have been handed a poorly written script to act out and don't see that hold the winning hand in this situation??????????????????

Because Trump had asked for only enough for 1/3 of the wall, $18 billion, a figure he has publicly stated for weeks.

Democrats offered $1.6 billion.
He offered $1.6 billion so he could say he offered money and so with the press in their pocket and people like the OP will parrot that Schumer offered a deal but Trump rejected it.

It's that simple.

The wall is smoke and mirrors.

People woke up to the fact that that big cheap house was the result of illegals. That cheap chicken was the result of illegals in the processing plants. They started measuring their cost in taxes to pay for the welfare benefits going to anchor children and their parents That's when the chamber types and their hand picked politicians started in on we cannot do a thing about illegals until we get a wall.

IDKW, they couldn't have beefed up the Border Patrol and started deporting 20 years ago. Had as much time and effort gone into e verify as has been spent pissing in the wind about a wall, this turmoil would not be needed.

The Chamber, the Restaurant Association, the food processors and the rest have now put their politicians in a bind because the base wants the illegals deported. The business owning Republicans and the bleeding heart liberals looking to save mankind are the perfect storm.

No he offered what Trump said he needed to build the wall. Trump changed the number to 18 billion.

Clueless because I understand illegal immigration and immigration and have bothered to research it?

https://www.npr.org/sections/thetwo-...-match-reality

The wall does not solve the problem. We need to keep better track of people who overstay their visas. That is the core of the issue. In no other situation would it be logical or sane to look at a huge problem and instead of addressing the core of the problem you decide to spend the majority of your resources on solving a small side issue that contributes to the problem.

Seriously - in no way, shape or form is this logical. The wall just makes you feel better but it doesn't solve the problem.

He shouldn't have offered a dime. It's expensive and doesn't solve the problem of illegal immigration. Why are people so thrilled to spend money on something that won't fix anything?

It's a political play to say he did.

Democrats are banking on people who aren't paying close attention won't know about the filibuster rule that Dems are using to prevent legislation from being passed. They'll say that R's are the majority.

As usual, Dems depending on the ignorance of the people to play games.
