I agree with OP that it's good on him. He's in his mid 80's and still wants to stay in the game in his career, so that's great in my book.
People who see the Young Turks know upfront that it's an editorial show, rather than a news broadcast. So it shouldn't be a scandal that he would be voicing his opinion on that venue, and if that's where he wants to take his career at his point, he's earned the privilege. When he was anchoring, Dan Rather represented an era when news gave the "who, what, when, how, and why" rather than shows where people shout over each other pontificating their opinions but don't say anything of substance (and masquerading as "news"), which is often the case on the major cable networks (MSNBC and FOX News being the most notorious examples at various junctures on the political spectrum).
He may not have been perfect in his career (who is?) and anytime a human reports something, there is always some element of bias, regardless of whether it's even intended. But Rather was and is reliably professional and you had a good baseline for knowing what was going on in the world without the hype and could dig deeper if so desired because he was very effective in giving a clear, concise overview of the day's events.
Dan Rather tried to take down a presidential candidate and his career blew up in his face. Eff him. It'll be interesting to see whose careers blow up after the Fusion GPS fiasco. That dirt bag Rather will fit in perfectly with The Young Turds making excuses for the liars on the left.
Why am I not surprised the usual people add unwanted and unhelpful replies, kindly head through the exit that way ----->
I didn't support Bush, (nor Kerry) but it was embarrassing watching Rather on election night, well into the night obviously after it was all over still trying to explain how Kerry could still win.
