I have been following this $30 billion dollar revamp and expansion of infrastructure between NJ and NYC.

Why are people not concerned here?

Why can't NJ and NYC raise their own funds based on ridership of new trains?

Trump urged Ryan not to fund NY-NJ tunnel project: report | TheHill

"The Gateway project, which would construct a tunnel from New York's Penn Station to neighboring New Jersey to replace two aging tunnels, was listed as the nation's top infrastructure priority by the president's transition team before Trump took office last year."

There was already a thread on this months ago.

Trump wants the funding used for his infrastructure bill.

If NJ, and NY want to use their share from the infrastructure bill money for this project, so be it, but the money isn't going to be tied up before the bill is ready.

interstate commerce falls under federal regulation...
if they each built their own lines that ended at the state line, and the riders would get off/walk over and get on, it would be fine

What appears to be new is Trump again stepping forward at Billy Graham's funeral to ensure the project received no funding:

"House Democrats reacted angrily Saturday to reports that President Trump is ramping up the pressure on Republicans to cut federal money for the $30 billion Hudson River rail tunnel project.
“What is this? Is this again part of his mean-spiritedness toward New York?” asked House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi after a Queens town-hall meeting on the Democrats’ new tax plan."

This was already covered months ago.

They aren't going to tie up the federal money while they are working on an infrastructure bill.
