They did something like this with a skyscaper. I forget how tall it was, but it was real tall. At least 50 floors. They built it in 22 days. Excavation to completion.
It's truly amazing, their engineering and construction knowhow.
Contrast it with NY, where it costs $3.5 billion to build 1 mi. of subway and uses (not needs) a cast of thousands.
It’s amazing what can be accomplished with slave labor.
A few years back the Chinese partnered with Exxon to build refinery, something like 2 years from proposal to completion. If Exxon was going to do that here they would in the courts for five years before they even put a shovel in the ground. I'm not suggesting the Chinese system is superior but clearly there is some major issues here in the US.

mmm Lets see, China has no unions (like ours anyway) No OSHA, No NFPA, No EPA, No building codes to speak of and they can shot some slacker in the head to motivate the other coolies. Yea I see why the get stuff done faster....
P.S. I was at 3 gorges dam looking at equipment....Yes they had machines but I saw lots of people with baskets moving dirt...
That's pretty cool but let's not make it out to be more than it is. They didn't complete like an entire rail line in 9 hours. If you watch the videos it looks like the construction area was a several hundred feet of track, not miles.

They were supposed to do it in 7 hours and will all now be rightly punished.
