In my case, I have to admit the left was right about the Iraq War being a huge mistake. They were also right about Vietnam, but the horrible way they treated drafted troops negated any credit they get in my mind for Vietnam being an idiotic quagmire.

Nice post. I have to confess that I can't think of anything that I think the GOP was right about unless I go very far back.

Well, Eisenhower was right about warning of the military-industrial complex.

And I do admire that when Nixon was truly starting to look guilty, the Republicans stood up and did the right thing, acting ethically for the country, not holding on desperately to some party loyalty.

Bill Clinton was right about welfare reform.

Actually, I think the left is right about abortion, gay marriage, marijuana legalization, and other social issues.

The Left was right about, in many ways, corporations and the Republican Party being owned by them. After seeing the Republican Party cave to many corporations attacking the religious freedom bills and good bathroom bills, and seeing them sell us out on both legal and illegal immigration, and their nasty support for Common Core and all of its offshoots, I can say that they are dangerous, though less dangerous than the Democrats, if only because they have less power in the overall bureaucracy, the media, etc.

I now believe that if the Republican Party, at least the McConnels, the Ryans, the McCains, the Bushes, the Romneys, the Rockefellers, etc all ran the Hollywood, the media, academia, that they'd be little better than the Democrats running things now.

The left was right about corporations owning government. Although they've since done a 180 and are now on the same team as the GOP, maybe even moreso, backing corporations in their bid to control the government.
Same for clean environment. The left was right, now they've switched sides and are even more gung ho in letting polluters run amok. All the while espousing nonsense about fantasy global warming.

The Vietnam war? 90% of all American Deaths in Vietnam were under Kennedy and LBJ. Not exactly Leftist compared to Bernie or Obama.

I guess I'm pretty much in the middle, but the left is right about healthcare, and the right is correct about the 2nd amendment.
