...In a letter to Chairman Trey Gowdy (R-S.C.) on Thursday, 17 panel Democrats called for a "serious investigation" into whether President Trump's businesses are violating the emoluments clause of the Constitution, which bars federal officials from accepting payments or gifts from foreign governments.

They accused Trump and his attorneys of stalling "virtually any credible oversight" related to potential emoluments clause violations and said a subpoena was necessary because the Trump Organization failed to provide documents they previously requested.

The letter to Gowdy comes exactly a year after Trump held a news conference announcing that he would not liquidate his business assets or put them into a blind trust, but would instead hand day-to-day control of the Trump Organization over to his two adult sons.

"Now that a year has passed since the President and his attorneys held their press conference, there is no longer any reason for the Trump Organization to continue defying our Committee's request for documents and a briefing," the letter reads.

"For these reasons, we respectfully request that you now issue a subpoena to compel the Trump Organization to produce, by January 20, 2018, all of the following documents, which were requested on a bipartisan basis more than eight months ago."

The Democrats are seeking documents regarding how the Trump Organization identifies payments from foreign governments, as well as documents on whether Trump is making good on his promise to donate such payments to the U.S. Treasury.

In the past, conmen could just move on to another town to find new marks once folks caught on to the con. Apparently, in the present day, some folks persist in pledging loyalty to the biggest con job in American history. Above all, he's a CONfidence man.

On the bright side, some folks are just as persistent in 'following the money' to reveal the con.

Not saying there is not a Trump slump, but travel to the US has been trending downward since 2014, from what the ITA site chart shows.

2016 also shows a large negative trend in travel to the US.

Since 2016 also shows a large downward trend, I am sure I will be able to find a negative article in the media about Obama and travel to the US, right?

First of all, there was no "blind trust." All those folders on the table were merely props, filled with blank paper.

Also, it appears that rather than focusing on the family business as they were supposed to, the Trump sons have gotten involved in the the political business.

Eric, bless his soul, and his stalwart wife Lara have been increasingly involved in political matters.

Don Jr. appears to be a few weeks away from being indicted.

So maybe there's no one left at the business to actually make the determination of how much foreign money has come in and needs to be remitted to the U.S. Treasury.

As much as I would love to pin this on President Trump (and I'm sure his election into office may have some slight influence on tourism), an above poster is mostly correct in that the downward trend started part way through 2015.

Visitors to the US has been on a downward trend since the recession and if you're insinuating that Trump is bad for economy I'm not sure that's a hill you want to die on.

How is this a surprise ? With the amount of negativity and divisiveness that our country has suffered the last year, no wonder people don't want to visit. Blame Trump if it makes you feel better, I blame the media. Someone not from this country isn't going to take the time to research what is really going on, they are going to take the news reports at face value.
Proof that the Trump hate and paranoia is hurting this country.
