So things took a dive in 2008. Makes sense.

Then things were on an upward trend until 2015.

What happened in 2016 to start a downward trend?

I'm sure the gun violence in this country has something to do with the downward trend. Who in their right minds would come to a country where gun violence is so commonplace it's a mainstay of American culture?

Now throw in Donald Trump and the world must think between those two things America has lost its mind.

And it would be difficult to disagree.

Default Tourism to US is down, costing $4.6B and 40K jobs

Indirectly, Trump is to blame... the Left's election riots of 2016-17 spanned the whole country and had to scare the sh*t out of possible tourists.

(Or, it could just be the strong dollar.)

What election riots?

People stopped traveling here throughout 2016 because they feared election riots in November?

That doesn't even make sense.

What the F are you talking about? What riots? Sounds like FAKE NEWS! to me.

Or maybe you're thinking of the torchlight KKK rallies in the streets of the South last summer? Now that really could be a factor for people in Europe who lived through those once before...

Visitors to U.S by Year
you mean when Trump entered the political arena? June 2015 -- things started going south -- coincidence? Really? Let's discuss.

LOL......

I don't think he helps.

Why? There are plenty of leaders that are not of the dictator variety in countries people would love to visit. Why is the Philippines the alternative to the US? Odd logic.

I had read a while back that terrorism fears had somewhat affected the amount of tourists coming to the U.S, in addition to other countries which have seen terrorist attacks in the last few years.

In the past, conmen could just move on to another town to find new marks once folks caught on to the con. Apparently, in the present day, some folks persist in pledging loyalty to the biggest con job in American history. Above all, he's a CONfidence man. On the bright side, some folks are just as persistent in 'following the money' to reveal the con.

Interesting! I never heard that about Trump's promise to donate. It is, nevertheless, widely known that he's apparently a tight-fisted selfish, greedy guy who donates almost nothing. I remember the instance where he promised to provide a venue for free, but then underhandedly charged, after all.
