I would say this is pretty monumental as far as state courts. 18 districts is significant. I have seen some of the snake districts and it appears they only had one thing in mind in their creation to benefit incumbents. The supreme court is going to be busy just with Gerrymandering cases.

Quote:
Top Republican lawmakers say they are outraged by the Pennsylvania Supreme Court's decision to strike down the boundaries of the state's 18 congressional districts and will ask the U.S. Supreme Court to halt it.
Pennsylvania's top two Republican state senators, Joe Scarnati and Jake Corman, said Monday that the state court's decision oversteps its legal authority. They say they'll petition the U.S. Supreme Court this week to halt the decision.
They also say the state court has set up an impossible deadline of Feb. 9 to redraw the map and that will introduce chaos in the upcoming congressional election.

It's all moot right now. The Supreme Court has the issue in front of them now and will make a ruling.

I think they have Maryland and Wisconsin not Pennsylvania but the decision could be related.

The Supreme Court currently has Maryland and Wisconsin. The PA GOP has stated they will ask the Supreme Court to stay the ruling until the Maryland and Wisconsin case has been made. A similar stay was granted in North Carolina after those maps were thrown out. However in this case it is a State Supreme Court ruling on the State Constitution rather than a Federal Court ruling so it might have less of a chance of having the ruling stayed.

The GOP knows it can't win without gerrymandering, voter suppression, or any of the myriad other methods they seek to employ in order to sway everything to their favor. They are a truly pathetic bunch. Win at all costs, country be damned. What's funny is to see the little right wing puppets on sites like this who could completely care less that their party is responsible for destroying the fabric of this once great nation.
