Manchin is a Dem. Senator in an alt-right, alt-white state. His days are numbered no matter what he says.
This is true. He has always tried to straddle that line of being a Democrat in a Republican state. A very POOR republican state. Most times he behaves very much like a moderate republican. Not that it's a bad thing, but he is also pandering to his base which are very much Trump supporters.
Democrats used to be much closer to republicans on this issue. Just look at Bill Clinton’s statements about illegal aliens. Hell, he even called them “illegal aliens” at the time. Even Obama in his earlier years made stronger statements about stopping illegals.
It makes you wonder what happened between then and now.
The Democrats realized the only way they can get their FAR LEFT agenda through is to Fundamentally Transform America by bringing in ILLEGAL foreigners to vote Democrat for "free" stuff.
I believe there will be some funding going to the wall, I don't think we need it but that will be the compromise. I saw some other issues with the wall where they needed to do use eminent domain and will impact the Santa Ana Wildlife Refugee and Big Bend and others.
It is safe to assume that anyone who is for the wall is also for e-verify.
It is also safe to assume that anyone against e-verify is also against the wall.
So using e-verify as a bargaining chip for the wall just doesn’t work.
If you want to use e-verify as a bargaining chip, it would have to be used against DACA. “No DACA unless e-verify” is much more effective than “no wall unless e-verify”.
