So I consider myself an armchair detective and have a fascination with studying organized crime and serial killers. However, the one crime that truly bothers me that I simply can't understand is domestic violence in that of a man killing his girlfriend, wife, mother of his children.
Apparently in the history of America long before random killings, road rage, and serial killers, the number one reported crime was domestic violence.
Just recently the other day in the news a 28-year-old Timothy Smith shot and killed his x girlfriend, 3 other people, then himself all over that his girlfriend left him. Why was this kind of response even necessary?! This is happening almost weekly now. Men shooting and killing girlfriends/wives just because they want to end a relationship.
Again, this isn't new. Just look at The Charlie Project that catalogs all the known missing persons in America. In the majority of missing women the common theme is the boyfriend\husband is the suspect. The Charley Project
Personally, I feel that there is something inherently flawed with monogamy. Putting all your hopes and dreams into one person is a seriously flawed concept.

What do you all think?
Most homicides are committed by men, around 90%. But in the category of domestic homicide, women are only about 20% more likely than men to be victims.

I don't think that polygyny would change mindset of men who would commit violence or kill their wife/girlfriend/baby mamma. Studies show that domestic violence increases in polygamous relationships.
Normality is not putting all your hopes and dreams into one person then offing them if those hopes and dreams are not fulfilled. Most people accept that relationships dont always work out. They can move on from a failed relationship despite feelings of loss or heartache and enter into as many new relationships as necessary or be content in singledom.
