Um.. Tax cuts encourage profitable businesses to continue to grow. HD sales have been headed south, so closing is a business decision. And it's not just HD. Motorcycle sales are down, in general.
Speaking of green, HD has also committed to building an electric bike, supposed to hit the market in 2019. Nothing I'm interested in-too range limited.
Well, they're in an uncomfortable position of their own making, aren't they? Those who want the Harley brand don't want an electric bike, and those who want an electric bike don't want the Harley brand.

The performance cruiser market sadly hasn't really taken off. The V-Rod is dead. The Rocket III only sells a handful of units a year (and I love mine), the V-Max is a rare beast and even the M-109 doesn't seem to move a lot of units. None of which I really understand-cruisers are cool and all...but performance is still a lot of fun.
Don't overlook the Ducati Diavel or - drooool - X Diavel. Completely not my type of bike, but my left brain still wants one.
I'll be sure to make use of your post above on discussion for new fed tax cuts and the argument how it will cause wage increases and job creation. Especially when those on your side of the argument seem to argue the tax cuts will have this magical effect, not increased demand.
Increased take home pay will increase demand for consumer goods, just maybe not for Harleys.

I know the Diaval is sometimes referred to as a cruiser. Personally, I consider it more another naked sport bike. Not much similar in style to the other "muscle cruisers". The other one I kinda liked was the Honda Ruin. At the least it was unique.

Really? It put me in the mind of a V-Max more than anything. Guess I look at it from a sportsbike perspective, so the cruiser qualities stand out. Whereas a cruiser guy sees the sportsbike features. Is there a name for that phenomenon?
A Vietnam marine friend of mine told me motorbikes were used as work horses in all the countries he was in, in the Orient - A Honda 50 stacked up way over your head.
I avoided motorcycles during my adolescent days. I found them to be scary.
