The DOJ then goes on to basically plead the 5th (sources and methods) on whether anyone besides Trump was wire-tapped in Trump tower.
If President Trump is so totally innocent, then why would he be worried about his phones being wire tapped?

The FISA warrant under question was written and approved for surveillance on Carter Page. The Nunes memo makes that very clear. No where in the Nunes memo does it say, "wire taps were put on the President's phone." Now, if Nunes' memo HAD said that the President's phones were wiretapped by his own DOJ, THAT would have been a true bombshell.

But the FISA request was made to authorize surveillance (again this is from the Nunes memo) on Carter Page.

So, really no one in Trump's administration need worry unless, of course, they were on the phone with Carter Page discussing and directing his trip to Moscow and his meetings with Sechin, or something else that might incriminate them.

Ok say you are tapped in your home and they say "if you're not guilty there's no reason to worry" as they are tapping your adult child who may be committing a crime...

Would you be ok with that>?

So if we are into conspiracy theories, WHY did Gowdy announce his sudden retirement from Congress?

Quote:
It’s hard to come up with a simple rationale behind Gowdy’s sudden retirement other than these two explanations. He wasn’t in danger for his next election. He won his last one with 67% of the vote, more than doubling his opponent’s vote total. The “I’m sick of hyper-partisanship” explanation doesn’t hold any weight considering he voted down partisan lines last week to release a partisan memo, and that’s before you get to his reputation as a partisan hack. The “I’m sick of fighting my colleagues in order to protect the DOJ” explanation rings hollow too given that he voted to remove power from the DOJ and put it in Trump’s hands. His own staff seemed to not know he was leaving considering they were still sending fundraising e-mails out just prior to him announcing his retirement. It’s all just so weird. Again, a plum lobbying job quickly opening up explains all of this and is far and away the most likely explanation, but if Gowdy really is just going home to sit on his couch, one can’t help but wonder what the real explanation is.
https://www.pastemagazine.com/articl...-congress.html

In the same link, the author speculates that the situation is getting too toxic for Gowdy - that Nunes may have coordinated the memo with the White House? (Now doesn't THAT scenario sound familiar.)

Then according to Maggie Haberman (NYT), Gowdy is the only House Republican to have seen all the interviews conducted by Mueller. Again, too toxic?

Or maybe Trump does just have a new job for Gowdy.

This analogy is almost as stupid as the one where you can't be for immigration reform unless you live in a wall-less house and allow strangers to sleep there.

to believe anything based solely on the word of trump is ridiculous.
The first time I read about Trump was when he brought his mistress along on a family ski holiday. Who does that?

Ivanka and Marla got into it. Then Trump and Ivanka got into it. All in front of the kids, no less.

He left his wife and children. Married his mistress. Left that woman and daughter. Took up with another woman. This one seems a little frosty these days.

Over the years, a story would pop up now and again about him. He always seemed full of it to me. Lot of bragging about this, that or the other.

He reminds me of the uncle who shows up at Thanksgiving bragging about how rich he is but never brings so much as a pie or a bottle of wine, and always trying to talk everyone into investing in his latest get-rich-quick scheme.

Here's a little more proof that Nunes is either dumb as a rock or a liar; believe it or not Nunes claims there's no evidence Papadopoulos ever met Trump despite photo

"House Intelligence Committee Chairman Devin Nunes (R-Calif.) in a Monday morning interview said there is no evidence former Trump campaign adviser George Papadopoulos met with President Trump, despite a widely disseminated photo of the two sitting around the same table for a meeting. “If Papadopoulos was such a major figure, you had nothing on him, you know, the guy lied,” Nunes told “Fox & Friends.” “As far as we can tell, Papadopoulos never even knew who — never even had met with the president.” Papadopoulos, a former foreign policy adviser to the Trump campaign, is included in a photo that shows then-candidate Trump and then-Sen. Jeff Sessions (R-Ala.) sitting at opposite heads of a table.
