You were proven wrong a couple of posts above you. The British NHS is a success and is supported by nearly every citizen there. It's only a failure to right wingers here in the US who want to keep resisting its implementation here. It's the only viable solution, no matter how much you righties like to kick and scream against it.

My son needs a total hip replacement. From the time of diagnosis to the actual surgery will be 3 weeks. Try that in some of these countries with "universal" health care!
How much is that going to cost here in the states?

Doesn't that sort of defeat the purpose of a socialized, single payer system????? Why can't they handle it through the system within a reasonable time frame?

Did not take long to comprehend this was just another empty campaign rhetoric by a politician and he/ admin had no plan.

Did not take too long for Trump to publicly question, " who knew healthcare was so complicated?"
So, do you think President Trump is a King who can do things by decree? Do you want to live in a Kingdom?

The fault lies not with President Trump, but with Congressional Republicans who had eight years to come up with an alternative, and didn't do it. Then, when they had the power, they weren't ready, and began arguing and fighting internally. Some are actually turncoats, and switched their support to the failed Obamacare.

President Trump heard the voices of the the people. But he can't do it alone. He isn't a King.

I think President Trump's comment (you quoted above, if accurate) was mostly satirical. He's a smart man. He already knew what was involved.

I think the fact it carries out 10 million operations a year, has helped make the British people far healthier, is more cost effective and assessible than the US System and has good GP Services giving everyone access to a family doctor and local doctors surgery and local hospitals is testament to it's success.

In international comparisons, the English are healthier than their American counterparts, have lower rates of cholesterol heart disease, blood pressure and diabetes as well as living longer.

In the UK, more than 330,000 cases of cancer were diagnosed in 2011. That compares favorably with the rate of cancer in the US —396 per 100,000 people in the UK vs. 451 per 100,000 in the US. However this may also be connected to the over diagnose of cancer in the US.

The NHS is already a very good system but with more resources could be outstanding.

The private health care was kept because the Doctors kicked up a fuss when the NHS was founded 60 years ago, and people from overseas come here to receive private heathcare, indeed many top NHS Hospitals offer private healthcare to people from abroad, as it makes money for the NHS.

Around 10% of Brits take out private health insurance, however it is an option in a democratic free society.

The NHS is feeling what we are feeling here with the influx of illegal immigrants and refugees.
Blast that many people onto a system and someone has to pay for it. Here it is those that got swindled by Obamacare deductibles and premiums to make it as the only people with healthcare were those not paying into the system.

NHS just got flooded with 1/2 a million or more middle eastern refugees with no hope of ever working for a living.

I am in contact with floor fitters in England. I always pray for them when they tell me they are having knee problems.
Instant disability government gives them a flat in slumville, as they cannot work, and the initial doctor visit is the easy part. If a specialist is needed it is 9 months to a year for knee surgery of any kind. They end up going broke and losing everything they built in their small business.
