Listen, I don't know where you're getting this information from. I am telling you from experience, working for a major company that my only options to hire are the big 5 IT Outsourcing firms. There's not a single individual US Citizen that will accept a job for $70/hr on W2 in my field. IT is a broad field, so there might be other areas where it is the case.
I am speaking from experience. i have contacts in that company, and I almost took an offer from them myself. Lot of people, US citizens with 20+ years experience, and none of them are making $120 per hour. I don't blame you for not hiring people who are asking for too much.
Really, is anyone shocked? You really thought giving corps billions back would result in meaningful change? Yes, it would have been helpful to include some form of H1B visa limitations, but the companies wouldn't like that would they? If any of you still think Trump is working for the poor and working class.... well - don't know what to tell you.

Why would't someone take $70/hr? That's at least $2800/wk or about $100K/yr. That sounds pretty good.

That $140k gets a lot smaller, fast. Even so, in NYC 6 figures is nothing special.
