I'm not accusing anyone of any crimes, but this looks really bad.
You have a democrat member of the gang of 8, and member of the Senate intel committee trying to meet in private with a key witness, and wants no trail, or records of the meeting.
This is in no way how you would go about conducting a legitimate congressional investigation.
There is no way around it, this reeks of witness tampering.

Look, I'm not trying to make excuses or take up for Warner. I am actually trying to find out what you think he did wrong or what his offense is here.
I agree: I do not know why Warner didn't want the memo signed out prior to knowing they had a meeting. But he did. He didn't want a memo put out if there was not going to be a discussion.
Even if that's the case, I'm not seeing an offense with that. Especially since he has two republicans backing him up. It may be the way the committee handles things. Whether we like that or not is of no concern. If it is not the way they handle things, why is Rubio/Burr not stating that.
He brutally went after Jr. & Kushner for doing the same damn thing.
This guy is in Congress and can be influenced, by Russians.
Colluding with Russia is not a crime. The reason everyone that isn't out to get Trump is wondering how Mueller got appointed to investigate no crime.
What did he do wrong? Colluded with a Russian agent to try to set up a secret meeting with Steele, a British agent, the actions of which were unknown to and unauthorized by the Committee.
He spoke to an American lobbyist to set up an interview with the Russian guy. How is that collusion?
Yet, Eric Trump, Jr, meets with Russians, lies about it, then admits it, has emails to show he was looking for dirt from them but that's okay, right?
I hope you see your hypocrisy.
Warner is also the Democratic head of the committee. One member, at least, was aware of his "back channel" attempts. So not unknown and not unauthorized. You don't even know if he needed authorization to have the meeting.
It is very obvious you are trying to create a situation where one may not exist.

Then let's have it investigated. I'm sure the other members of the committee don't care about protecting him. If they believe he did wrong, they should say so and remove him as well as further punishments. Why is that not happening?

You know what that isn't happening? Because it's BS.

I agree. But I can't get a good answer out of these people here as to if this is "a thing" surely some of the republicans on his committee would go after him for it. But they aren't. Why is that?
Honestly, I don't know if this is a big deal or not. It's quite possible, with however they do things, that it's not. If it is a big deal, the other members certainly do have his back on this.

It is being investigated by the IG, who was the one that found Warner's text messages.
If this is no big deal, why didn't Warner inform the committee back in march of 2017 whne he was trying to have an undocumented meeting with a key witness?
If this is no big deal why did Warner inform the committee only after being caught by the IG?
If this is no big deal, why didn't the Senate Intel Committee disclose this to the public last September when they were informed?
The entire committee willfully chose to withhold the fact that one of its members were engaged in activities that are extremely suspect, and potentially criminal.
The entire committee is now compromised.
