President Trump sees both sides of the issue and calls it like it is, good for him.

President Donald Trump has warned Israel that its West Bank settlements risk complicating efforts to find peace in the Middle East.

In an interview published on Sunday, Mr Trump also told an Israeli newspaper that he was sceptical that either side - Palestinians or Israelis - were ready to make peace.

I'm surprised he is taking note. Do to being surrounded by people of the book most of his career life, he has been pro Israel because of his line of work!

Bibi and Adelson won't like this. I suspect trump will be getting a call and will change his tune again in the next few days.

He doesn’t really care about the settlements, he gave Israel the green light. He’s not saying anything that presidents before him stated but they were being honest. One year in he finally makes this statement, please.

This link and all the copies of it have nothing to do with the actual interview where this was a a question and a answer. It was not the topic of the interview.

Here is the actual link which is titled as Trump to Israel Hayom: The Palestinians are not looking to make peace:

No duh neither the Israelis nor the Palestinians are making peace easier. The Palestinians think they can somehow get a better deal out of the Israelis by waiting (how who knows, meanwhile the Israelis' willingness to deal favorable to the Palestinians has gotten lower not higher) while the Israelis think that the status quo is better than what the Palestinians are offering and that they can maintain it forever if the Palestinians don't want to come to the table (maybe yes maybe no, but that "maybe no" is a pretty cataclysmic outcome). Meanwhile both of them do stuff to further antagonize each-other.

You can fault Trump for a lot of things but not calling a spade a spade ain't one. The Israelis and the Palestinians aren't ready to do a mutually acceptable deal, never have been, and until and unless they are we are just wasting our time getting involved at best.

Donald Trump warns Israel its settlements are 'complicating' search for Middle East peace

The so-called "Palestinian" government's attempts to attack Israel, plus their constant desire to annihilate that country, plus their ongoing efforts to fool their own people into thinking Israel is somehow horrible, is what is "complicating" the search for peace in the middle East.

Sort of like the way the 9/11 attacks 'complicated' our attempts to reach a peaceful accord with the various terrorists.

I'm shocked he can apparently tell the difference between "people of the book" and the actions of a nation.

The only group that consistently call Jews "people of the book" are Arabs. The settlements are not really an act of the nation. The majority of residents who live in the settlements are American citizens. They bring their American income and build. It's sort of a Catch-22 as they are dual citizens who can vote in both countries. Also new settlements aren't being built, old settlements are building on their own open areas. The Israeli gov't authorizes them it as funds become available to expand utilities to cover those areas. Less than 5% of Israels Jewish population actually live in the West Bank. Another 5% live in West Jerusalem and the other 90% mostly live near the ocean. Trump already knows what happened in 2005 under the Bush administration when the Jews were removed from those settlements and the utter failure it was. It's failure rippled all the way to the US.
