We pay 2200 a month for daycare in NY. Yes, its a huge amount and we struggled when we had to have both kids in daycare however when you do the math its about 100 a day. I do not complain as 100 a day to watch my child for 9 hours with 2 hot meals is really not that much at all.

You’re not paying anything extra for your kids attending public school that you otherwise wouldn’t have to. It is a huge relief on finances.

Just need to make sure you’re already in a good school district.

Such a strange idea that those raising our children should be paid a pittance.

What seemed like a good idea at the time has resulted in nobody is tending to the kids. Auntie and Grandma are at work, too.

Do you really want to people teaching your kids to qualify for food stamps? That is the case at some high dollar places.
I find that to be the problem with the working world these days. You get paid just enough to some what stay afloat but not your worth. College debt don't help this.

You are blaming the wrong people.

Um, Washington's statewide minimum wage increase was enacted by citizen's initiative in 2016. Not by the legislature, which was R-controlled.

And before you ask, Seattle voted for it by a large margin. King County tally was 687,996 yes, 297,074 no. https://www.nytimes.com/elections/re...e-minimum-wage

Of course Seattle had already enacted its own minimum wage increase in 2014, which is higher than the state's minimum wage. https://www.seattle.gov/Documents/De...iyearChart.pdf We're not dumb. We knew that this would mean an increase in prices. We just thought an increase was called-for.

And before you ask, Seattle's minimum wage increase has not resulted in an increase of the unemployment rate. In fact, the unemployment rate has decreased since its passage. https://ycharts.com/indicators/seatt...mployment_rate This of course is because Seattle's population and economy are booming. Hence leading to a higher COL.

Maybe we should be raising our own children?

What if you work 8 hours a day, for $10-$15 an hour. You lose money when it is all said and done.
The environment is created, as a utopia for the wealthy, with no upward mobility. The rich get richer and the poor more impoverished.

Let the free market dictate the value.

Some people are so out of touch, they think $100 a day is crumbs.
