Quote:
John H. Shott, a West Virginia state lawmaker, did not appreciate when, during a public hearing on the House floor on Friday, a citizen began listing donations he and some of his colleagues had received from the oil and gas industry.

He asked her to stop, warning her that she would be out of order if she continued.

And when she ignored him, reading the name of the next politician who had accepted donations related to the bill under discussion, which would make it easier for oil and gas companies to drill on private land, he had her forcibly escorted out.
We need more of this from our citizens!! What a shame they kicked her out. Heaven forbid the truth is known!

This is what it is all about. Having her thrown out, drew more attention to it, than if he had just let her continue, had a quick one liner on a praising but slamming & damning manner and continued with his business.

Good for her.

The people in the room she was preaching too, know all that already. Lobbyist don't shop just one.

I'd imagine many citizens would receive this treatment in city council, school board, county council meetings across the country as well if they read off the names of contributors. This kind of crap is insidious from the very lowest rungs of the political ladder all the way on up. I hope Lissa Lucas has inspired other Americans to do the same in their localities.

The politicians are all bought by big money. That’s why we need to get big money out of politics.

Although I can't remember who it was, there was one politician on Capitol Hill within the last two weeks who was really pushing hard for no border wall and technology fixes instead. Guess which industry his major donors are from? If you guessed Technology, you win a prize.

So long as politicians have your freedom to sell, there will be big money chasing them.

Trying to draw attention to the politicians is the wrong way to go about this, we all know they are in the pockets of lobbyists so its not really shocking to many. Maybe what would work better is to draw attention to the companies and industries that are initiating this...put their name out there and let the public know which ones are responsible.
