What they switch to won't be as lethal. Shotguns, .22, etc. They are legitimate prices for living in a free society. AR-15s aren't. They're too dangerous.
Totally agree.
Is it any wonder that children commit violent acts after years of prescription psychotropic medications being forced on them? When children's brain are growing and developing big pharma wants to treat them with medications that are mostly untested and what studies were done were financed by the big pharma that manufactures and profits from the drug.
Parents, wake up, start doing your own research. Please consider that the medical professionals are all getting kickbacks from the drugs they prescribe. Most of these doctors are too busy to investigate a medication and rely on a tall, long legged blonde, who has a degree in business, trained by big pharma, to tell them the good and bad of medications. God help us all, but especially your children!
And when killers switch? What then, another banning frenzy?
This. Banning specific guns instead of comprehensive one time reform will always be viewed as a slippery slope. If people really want those they label “gun nuts” to come to the table, they need to offer assurances that banning one class of weapons won’t lead to another when the initial ban fails to produce the desired results. Because it will fail and then what?
You've never had someone tell you you're crazy? No ones ever raised an eyebrow at something you said or did? You've never done anything crazy?
If not, you're 100% normal. You and no one else.
DSM-5 has so many maladies in it that everyone suffers from at least one. Which was it's purpose: more business for psychiatrists.
Yup, jokingly people tell each other that all the time, and my argument isn't that everyone is 100% normal, but we are talking legit psychological issues that require medication, treatment, and other means to keep people from hurting themselves or others...the people in that bucket do not make up 100% of the population as you suggest. No society should be making laws to cater to the lowest common denominator, we would all be walking around in bubble wrap being spoon fed with someone holding our hands while we crossed the street.

I agree. This particular shooter used an AR15, but the same damage could/would have been done had he used a 45 handgun. He wasn't firing any sort of distance and he wasn't even aiming. He was firing through the small window on the door randomly.
Totally agree.

So true, Profits before People...same old story and gets worse and worse.
<>There is no alternative to banning these kinds of weapons.
As you yourself recognize in your post the violence is within. I do not know why it seems to have increased in these decades, but there it is. Banning the sale of semi automatic rifles will have absolutely no effect on the innate violent mentality of young American males. There are already 3 million or so in private hands and there is no regulation for private exchange of long guns. Of course as I have proposed the BATFE could buy them all and send them to trouble spots around the war so those people could more effectively dispatch their enemies, but they prefer the AK 47.
Here’s Why Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School Never Reported Nikolas Cruz to the Police
Nikolas Cruz was a known threat. Known by the administrators of the Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School. It’s a clear case where a known dangerous student was not reported to the police. Why?
Because back in 2013, the Broward County School Board adopted a program where they don’t relay information to police about troubled students.
NPR reported in Fla. School District Trying To Curb School-To-Prison Pipeline;
It’s a move away from so-called “zero tolerance” policies that require schools to refer even minor misdemeanors to the police. Critics call it a “school to prison pipeline.”
Under a new program adopted by the Broward County School District, non-violent misdemeanors — even those that involve alcohol, marijuana or drug paraphernalia — will now be handled by the schools instead of the police.
Cruz was banned from carrying a backpack at school after bullets were found in his backpack. Cruz was expelled from MSD last year after a fight with his ex-girlfriend’s new boyfriend.
Non-violent misdemeanors? Even so, red flags were flying.
Again, the Broward County School Board has an official policy requiring that they don’t tell the police about non-violent incidents with troubled youth.
“There were problems with him last year threatening students, and I guess he was asked to leave campus,” Maths teacher Jim Gard told The Miami Herald.
Let’s look at a law that might cover that.
784.011 Assault. —
(1) An “assault” is an intentional, unlawful threat by word or act to do violence to the person of another, coupled with an apparent ability to do so, and doing some act which creates a well-founded fear in such other person that such violence is imminent.
(2) Whoever commits an assault shall be guilty of a misdemeanor of the second degree, punishable as provided in s. 775.082 or s. 775.083.
So another Liberal Feel Good program once again stepped in the way of the laws we have on the books being effective. Because last I checked, his actions of making threats to students and teachers constitutes assault.
It is possible that Nikolas Cruz would have been Baker Acted and received the needed medical attention he required before this all happened. But that wasn’t the case and sadly, 17 people lost their lives because of “feelz“.
For sure. Feelz and bubble wrap for Nicky and his arsenal and the heck with the safety of everyone else.
Let me get this straight. He was not expelled for having bullets, but he was expelled for fighting another boy over a girl. That sounds... backwards. Public school system in US needs full overhaul, irrational decisions.
