I get that this Florida one likely wasn't because of bullying, but one of, what USED to be one of the worst incidents, Columbine, WAS in part because of bullying. I'm wondering if bullying has gone up or down in schools? One thing I can think of that was true in the past but not really now is that, in the past, if someone kept harassing you, you could pop them in the kisser and get by with it. Now, if you strike back, YOU get expelled/arrested. So eventually, with schools not doing something or fear of getting in trouble for striking back, somebody might finally snap one day and start shooting someone.
Yeah; I don't feel like the 'no bullying' program is at fault for these school shootings.
Firstly, these angry young men need to realize that high school is just a very tiny part of their lives. It DOES end and most people are grateful when it does. Do their parents not talk to them?
Secondly, parents need to keep a closer eye on their kids - keep them involved; keep them busy; make sure they are 'plugged in' to their school. The debate team will do; the band, soccer, swimming, whatEVER. Everyone needs a group to belong to.
Thirdly, angry and troubled young men should not be able to get their hands on an AR.
