Maybe you don't realize that entire incident was in response to the Obama administration's CIA orchestrated coop of the Democratically elected Ukrainian government. The fact that Joe Biden's son was put into charge of the new Ukraine's oil resources speaks to this. Putin protected Russia's interests. The hapless Obama thought he wouldn't do anything. He was wrong.
Oh, yes, the tired old Obama did it line.
Sadly for your well-worn and fully disproved theory, I read and watched online Ukrainian, Russian, American, and other European news sources before, during, and after the Maidan, have Ukrainian friends who were in Ukraine at the time, and know better.
Nice try at diverting attention from Russia's devious and fully illegal insertion of itself into Ukrainian matters and Ukrainian territory - but long ago proved false.

This is it huh? Apparently they were doing this with no help or connection to the Trump campaign. I am sure Mueller tried all he could to find a connection but it just was not there.

Russians held anti-Trump rallies and also anti-Hillary rallies to sow discord . The Russians were even in their attacks on Trump and Hillary. The Russians were not pro either candidate.
Hillary lost because she was a lying, cheating, bought and paid for war mongering pos.
Period.
Ultimately, no one knows what would have happened absent these interference antics.
I'm certainly not saying that outcome would have been different - but we don't have an alternate reality to run that comparison experiment.
