We see Canada, the UK, Australia, and Europe wanting to pass, or passing laws against "Hate Speech" and prosecuting people for speech they deem offensive. These laws will continue to get more stringent, and widespread. Soon it will be speech against the government in which they define as Hate Speech. There inhabitants are also forced to welcome Muslim refugees, and immigrants that are largely unvetted from Muslim countries that do NOT want to assimilate. That is not freedom.
None of these countries have a Second Amendment, and all have very heavy restrictions on guns to the point of bans, and confiscation. There inhabitants (I won't call them citizens) have absolutely NO recourse. Their government does not fear them, and therefore does NOT respect them.
The United States will not go down that road, although the Left uses every dirty tactic, and lies about "gun violence", yet don't care about reducing inner city black, on black violence. Liars, and hypocrites.
Don't forget to add that with changing demographics of people not willing to assimilate into their culture, if they become the majority, they could institute a new form of government. For example with Muslims they could create an Islamic state based Shiria law. If the native culture was overrun then the people could choose to flee or be subjugated without the ability to stop it.

Oh, don't sell them short. Looking at recent history, once social order breaks down enough that gangs of armed civilians (pardon - "militias") can roam freely, they have been be quite efficient in lording it over minorities and those they deem unaligned with what passes for ideology in the militia's heads. Disloyal elements, brown people, socialists, intellectuals, Muslims, Jews and anyone with a smart look on their face will not have a good time. Bubba and his pals may not be particularly educated or organized, but if their colonel (they're always colonels) says you're a Fifth Column infiltrator, they'll act on that.
Oh, and they'll fight competing militias, but that is probably a feature, not a bug.
Assuming the full military might of the armed forces were trying to suppress citizens fighting to save our constitutional republic (only some would while others would join the civilians), we would desperately need firearms. That would not be enough to defeat the federal governments military might, but as we have seen with guerrilla warfare tactics used by other countries against our forces, you can survive.
The same cannot be said for sling shots.
I will take a .50 cal over a sling shot 100% of the time.

Don't get me wrong. I think it is very important for civilians to have guns. I own or have owned several hundred firearms since I was a kid. One gun for ALL needs is a hard bill to fill. My personal favorite CCW is a S&W ten shot revolver in .22 Long Rifle. Many other gun owners would say that is a poor choice. But opinions are like a**holes, everybody has one! Right? That is why all of us gun owners need to stick together when IDIOTS try to ban a certain firearm (i.e. AR-15s).
I have spent many hours thinking about the tactics I would use if/when the government should ever try to take our Second Amendment rights away. I am an old phart and in a physical confrontation I am not a threat to most able bodied folks. I do have a dangerous mind however.
To be 100% honest I believe that in certain states (you all know the ones) the time to punish the TREASONOUS betrayers that have infringed on Second Amendment rights was many years ago.
Guns will be the very first thing Tyrants will go after. When that happens PEOPLE that want to stay free will have to find other things that can substitute for guns.
Things such as: Certain common household chemicals. A High School Chemistry student with a B average knows which ones.
Gasoline, Glass bottles , Old rags, All plastic bottles, PVC pipe, Compressed air, Lighter fluid, Spud gun,Slingshot, Wrist rockets, Crossbows, Archery gear, Knives, Sharp sticks, Booby traps, Fish line, Hooks and the list goes on and on. If you use your imagination there are hundreds of things in your house that can be used to kill. IEDs in Iraq and Afghanistan have PROBABLY killed more U.S. troops than enemy AK-47s or artillery.
In the event we have another revolution or Civil War identifying who the enemy is will be difficult.
There will not be an easy way to identify the Good Guys from the Bad Guys. Obviously any Police/Military persons knocking down your door to confiscate your weapons is an ENEMY of Freedom. However not all of the enemy will be identified by their uniform. Some of the traitors may be Editors or reporters that have supported taking away your freedoms by their reporting or policies. Is there a bigger enemy to freedom than certain members of the news media? Bumper stickers may be a clue. Chances are a car with an NRA sticker on it is not owned by the ENEMY. Conversely the idiot wearing a T Shirt with a Gun Control message is PROBABLY one of the enemy.
Let us hope we can remain a free country because once freedom is lost it may take a lifetime to regain.
