The committee responsible for organizing President Donald Trump's inaugural events paid a friend of first lady Melania Trump $26 million, part of more than $90 million the group spent on the festivities, according to a tax form filed to the IRS earlier this month and released Thursday.

Stephanie Winston Wolkoff, a New York society events planner, also serves as a senior advisor to the first lady, although she is not paid for her White House work. The inaugural committee reported paying $26 million to WIS Media Partners, a limited liability company that Wolkoff set up in late 2016.

The Inauguration was paid for with private donations, not taxpayer money. How much did the Obamas get for his Inauguration festivities?

Interesting that the woman is not getting a salary to be a senior advisor to Melania now. Melania only has four staff and Michelle O had twenty-two.

Much ado about nothing.

Yeah, I knew someone would "but Obama."

Obama had A-list, world class entertainment at his inauguration and spent half what Trump did on his pathetic D-listers.

How silly.

It was 100% private money.

I'm guessing that you didn't past that cNBC headline.

Oh and they payed a pittance compared to what Hillary spent on the Javvits center where she couldn't be bothered to show up on the night of the election.

More crookedness from the Trump family. You want to know what god the Trumps worship? It’s the Money god or goddess. Most corrupt president EVER. Nobody mentioned Hillary.

Ah yes. The inauguration committee that raised more than any before them and threw the saddest, cheapest inauguration ever. Remember that guy Boris on TV every day swearing all those big names would be appearing? What a joke.

I heard Mark Burnett of apprentice fame, the keeper of the trump racist outtake tape, also got paid a bunch.

The balance was supposed to go to charity. Reporters have been following up on this for a year now. Thank god for the free press!

The Inaugural Committee is funded by private contributions-both donations and fees for various events associated with the inauguration festivities. How a private organization, funded with private dollars, spends it's money, is up to them. I'm much more concerned with how taxpayer dollars are spent.

As an example the development of a simple website to sell insurance was funded with taxpayer dollars. $834 million taxpayer dollars to be exact. The disastrous development and implementation was awarded to an obscure Canadian company, instead of a "Silicon Valley" tech company with experience in such work. That company? One run by one of Michelle Obama's friends and classmates from college. I find the misappropriation of taxpayer dollars a far bigger concern than how private money is used to pay for a party.
