Did you notice that in societies where women are controlled, can't go out without a male relative and have to cover from head to toe, did you notice those societies are always at war? The men are taught that woman don't matter so they don't do things or consider her happiness so they can focus on things like always being at war.

So you're comparing the 1950s to Saudi Arabia. This thread has long jumped the shark.

Well did you notice that those countries with that mentality are always at war. It's a society that focuses on the men and they don't have to make an effort to court women instead, the women are told who'll they'll marry. In the 50's men did and once snagged,... her honey, here's the wash machine, the rags, the kitchen and my dirty socks. Hey I'm hungry!

Did you ever notice America was rarely at war until the 1940s?

Meddling third parties? Please elaborate who they are. I’m assuming they’ll be any people or groups who see woman as equally deserving of making their own choices.

Do you really think we’re all “radical feminists” in this thread? I haven’t seen evidence of any at all, actually, though I may have missed a post. Too often any sort of deviation from the notion of a 50s housewife seems to be considered extreme here.

My husband need have no fear of cads/chads/whatever as I am solely devoted to him. Of course, that would also include him doing the same. That idea of loving him thoroughly and continually working on our relationship does not include me being the maid by default, though.

I'm on the right but your an extremist something?

There are men on both sides that think they are for equality but on the home front are not. The difference between them and you is at least you admit it, the others not realizing the work load of keeping home it hasn't crossed their mind or they don't want to admit because it would mean they have to do their share.. All I have to say is Thank GOD!!!!! I was not an adult women in the 50's.

If my Mom had passed before my Dad I'm quite sure he would have remarried pretty quickly, same as my stepdad wanted to marry my Mom only 6 months after his wife had passed (after 50 years), vs my Mom who had already been widowed for 9 years.
The old women I know do joke a lot about old men wanting a nurse and/or purse.
